Cannabis strains with high CBD and low THC are gaining widespread popularity across dispensaries in recent years. Cannabis is not just for hippies, and people are not smoking cannabis just to get stoned anymore. So, how can you tell which strains are high in CBD? There are so many strains available on the market it can be overwhelming. We’ve compiled a short list of some of the most common CBD strains available on the market.

Cannatonic (17% CBD)

Resin Seeds, a Spanish seed bank that bills itself as the “founders of the CBD movement,” developed this hybrid strain around 2008 to seize on the emerging research around the medical benefits of CBD. A cross between the popular MK Ultra and G13 Haze, Cannatonic consistently tests with high CBD levels — depending on the phenotype, they range from 6 to 17% CBD.

ACDC (19% CBD)

ACDC is a sativa-dominant phenotype of the high-CBD cannabis strain, Cannatonic. One remarkable characteristic of ACDC is this strain induces little to no intoxicating effects. Tests have put ACDC’s CBD content as high as 19%, which helps users manage chronic pain, anxiety, epilepsy, MS, and the negative effects of chemotherapy. ACDC helps patients relieve their symptoms while being able to focus on their work during the day.

SHK or Stephen Hawking Kush (22% CBD)

This kush is named after the most famous astrophysicist Dr. Stephen Hawking. This particular strain was created by pollenating a Harle-Tsu female with a Sin City Kush male. The soothing, relaxing effects help manage pain and suppress nausea.

Ringo’s Gift (24% CBD)

Ringo’s Gift (named for the late Lawrence Ringo) is a high-CBD strain that crosses Harle-Tsu and ACDC. Ringo’s Gift comes a variety of different phenotypes and ratios. There’s a “one-for-one” strain, meaning it has an equal ratio of CBD to THC. Ringo’s Gift has also seen ratios as steep as 24:1 CBD/THC. This strain is popular in the cannabis clubs of Barcelona. This is because providing a mellow mix of cerebral activity and soothing, full-body relaxation without the “couch lock” effect.

Sour Tsunami (30% CBD)

Sour Tsunami combines two diesel varieties — Sour Diesel and NYC Diesel. This particular strain has a higher percentage of THC (10%) compared to other high CBD strains but levels of CBD that can range between 12 and 30%.
