Congratulations Canada on becoming the second country in the world to legalize the possession and use of cannabis. This includes the use of cannabis for recreational purposes. Canada is the second country after Uruguay to legalize possession and use of cannabis. Since 2001, medicinal use of cannabis has been legal in Canada As of midnight October 17th, 2018, it is no longer illegal for adults over 18 years old to purchase, possess or grow cannabis for any reason.
From now on, Canada’s 10 provinces and three territories are responsible for determining their own laws governing the drug. Legalization of cannabis was an election pledge by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau back in 2015. Canadian provinces and municipalities have been preparing for months for the end of cannabis prohibition. It remains unclear if 500,000 Canadians with criminal convictions for cannabis possession or other offenses will have their records cleared.
Before I forget, Congratulations South Africans!! now you finally get to celebrate the decriminalization of cannabis!
