CBD reacts with the endocannabinoid system and brain receptors that calms your mind. Inculcate CBD and Meditation in your routine.
If you surf the web on the benefits of meditation, you would instantly be overwhelmed with information at your fingertips. You could see anywhere from 7 to 23 different types of techniques of meditation practices. Does that sound like quite a task?!
In this blog, I would like to share with you how I started meditation, and how CBD helps to boost my enthusiasm to calm myself.
At first, setting a realistically achievable objective would be very useful. Write down what you want to achieve out of practicing meditation. Keep it to a maximum of two, even just one objective would be super cool, to begin with.
Let me share with you how I started with a Meditation routine. My objective was to calm down my emotions. They were often very impulsive. I sensed that I was becoming a sensitive person. It would take just a few seconds for me to break down, laugh with joy, get angry, or feel pity. Hence, I wanted to calm down and take complete control of this turbulent nature of my emotions.

I spent the next two weeks to read and download some great reads on meditation from the Internet, listening to podcasts of great philosophers and ancient techniques of meditation practices, hours of audio and music for meditation, shop for accessories including, mats, white clothes, scented candles, etc, etc….once again a record-breaking excess spent on budgets. Didn’t I tell you I am a shopaholic?!
All was set! I marked a day to start. Kept in mind all notes and information that I had gathered from surfing the internet world. Eager to put to use all my newly purchased materials, on a fine morning, got the ball rolling. I put on the music, lit the candles, and sat in a comfortable posture on my new mat. “What a head start?!” I said to myself. In the next few minutes, I went into a deep sleep.
I was quietly disappointed for having slept on my first day of meditation practice! I motivated myself, thought it would be alright in a couple of days, but I kept doing the same thing every day. I would start brisk but end up sleeping.
I lost hope for myself! I considered myself unfit for meditation and quit.
This is the message I wish to share with you. I suppose I overprepared! So, just keep it simple. I do not want you to make the same mistakes that I did.
Keep it simple my friend!
Meditation in simple words is a ‘state’ of mind with a conscious focus. And this focus can be on anything. It could be just your breath. Attaining this state of mind first requires a stable body and mind. A body that is absolutely relaxed and calm, a mind that is calm, worry-free, with no pre or post occupations, free from distractions.
It is an ‘art’ of taking absolute control of your mind, assigning it to stay the way you want, and not let it wander or drift aimlessly.
What does it take to attain this state of mind?
We must understand that we are the mind, body, and soul. Each of these needs to be handled differently to attain and maintain a perfect synchronization amongst them.
Relaxed yoga practices of some specific asanas or postures, and practicing yoga with pets also helps a great deal in elevating mental and physical health.
The mind, in fact, is a little more complex for us to control. Hence we need to handle it very cautiously.
Mind-body dualism
The Indian, Buddhist, and Western Philosophy talk about Dualism of the mind and body and share a lot of similarities in thoughts. According to the Encyclopedia of Science and Religion, in its Mind-Body theories, it states that “Dualism, or mind-body dualism, is the theory that both minds and brains exist, and no mind is a brain and no brain is a mind, nor is a mind any part of a brain or a brain any part of a mind”.
This article cites Western philosophers including Pythagoras (c.569-475 b.c.e), Plato (c.427-347 b.c.e), and Aristotle (384-322 b.c.e) who were mind-body dualists and firmly believed in this doctrine about the existence of mind as a non-physical part of a person.
Body and CBD
Having understood the complexities of the mind, it is easier for us to first take control of our body. I understood that absolute relaxation of the body is the key, and I needed to upgrade the configuration of my body, which had gotten used to functioning at underutilized capacities. The best possible method I thought would work on me was CBD.
The impact of CBD on the endocannabinoid system is quite widely accepted but less talked about than it should be. But the awareness about CBD and wellness is increasing. According to A.T. Kearney’s 2019 report on CBD Market Survey, retailers have a major role to play in consumer understanding of hemp-derived CBD products.
According to a 2015 study on Neurotherapeutics, CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders, with the need for further study of chronic and therapeutic effects in relevant clinical populations.
The cannabinoids present in CBD react with the endocannabinoid system of the human body connecting to receptors that aids improved sleep, reduces inflammation, and auto-immune diseases.
At this stage, you need a mild nudge that can push you to go forward and keep it the way you are trying to attain not only better mental and physical health but overall wellness. This is where CBD kicks in. A right dose, to begin with, can take you a long way in calming yourself down. Several studies unanimously report on the benefits of CBD.
The author of the book ‘Getting older with bipolar’, George Hoffman shares his thoughts on CBD, as a means to stress relief.
Combining our CBD/CBG crystals with just a few drops of essential oils can help transform the entire experience, with the relaxing aroma creating a spa-like environment right in your own home.
Therefore, when the body calms down, it is easier for us to calm the mind as well. Your Meditation routine would also set in.
This is how CBD helped me in my Meditation practice.
In A Nutshell…
Do not try to learn the complicated forms of Meditation in the beginning. Mindfulness is the key, just focus on your breath. The way it goes in and comes out, the most subtle sounds that it can make inside you, feel this breath. Experience it completely, try to connect yourself with it and observe your breathing during meditation.
Start with 7 minutes at first. The entire seven minutes, just stay with your breathing. Try to stay focussed to observe how you breathe. After meditation, the entire day whether you are working, walking, eating, or engaged in any activity, try and keep your connection with your breathing. Just this practice alone would transform your way of thinking, and working.
And like I said, don’t forget to embrace CBD in your wellness routine! Just the way I did!
