Black olives are stronger and saltier, while the green ones are milder. Rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants, olives get along well with salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and all sorts of recipes. And always holds a prime position in the Mediterranean diet.

Let’s talk about the CBD and Olive oil compatibility and get to know how and why olives are important for health and environmental sustainability.

What is CBD and CBD Oil

CBD is the acronym for Cannabinoids, a compound constituent found in cannabis. The Cannabis plant divides itself into three broad types which are Sativa, Indica, and Ruderalis. Thousands of hybrids are derived from the combination of these.

The CBD that is extracted from the Cannabis plant is CBD Oil. Unlike THC, CBD does not create a “high” or intoxication effect.

To deliver its full benefits, CBD often is combined with a good carrier oil, which are hemp seed oil, olive oil, coconut oil, or MCT oil.

The therapeutic benefits of CBD oil and it’s potential health benefits as a food supplement is gaining a lot of interest and attention across different sections of the society. If you are keen to learn more about this click here.

All herbal extracts need a carrier or in other words a transportation through which it can deliver its compounds more effectively. The carrier oil not only helps to carry the compounds but also preserves the efficacy. This leads to better absorption and bioavailability by the human body.

Consider using hibiscus extract to boost your hair growth, you would sure want to mix and infuse the extract with coconut oil or any other oil that you wish to use to get the fatty consistency, flavor, color, etc.

The same thing applies here to CBD as well, it needs a compatible carrier oil that can support its delivery. And CBD gets readily absorbed when infused with fatty oils. This helps to maintain long-lasting stability and effectiveness while in storage.

Therefore, bioavailability is the key objective to be attained while determining the best carrier oil. The type of fat molecules contained in the carrier oil, affect how effectively the CBD gets transported into the human body. Besides bioavailability, the independent nature of every carrier oil such as flavor, consistency, taste, and cost affects the choice.

“olive oil is an excellent heart-healthy option to pair CBD with.”– Emily Kyle, a holistic cannabis practitioner, and a registered dietician.

A 2017 study on health, reports that researchers are showing that the consumption of extra virgin olive oil protects memory and learning ability and also reduces the formation of Alzheimer’s disease.

The secret formula to our beauty and health can be found in the kitchen’. If we can deeply understand this and bring it to practice, life would become more fulfilling and satisfying.

Thanks to the Internet and social media for reviving and resharing traditional wisdom and knowledge.

Olive oil is always a favorite choice when it comes to cooking because of its inherent flavor and its potent health benefits. But the taste of CBD oil is more botanical with an earthy, nutty, or grassy flavor. For people who do not find CBD oil to be too palatable, infusing CBD with olive oil is best recommended as it gets easily blended.

CBD infused olive oil can go into your salads, soups, or just into your everyday recipes thereby multiplying its functional value as a supplement to your health.

Olive growing and sustainability

Despite the multitude of health benefits, olives and olive oil possess great influence in human history.

Olives hold a prestigious position in the part of Mediterranean culture. The history of olives can be traced back to biblical references, as well as its significance in Greek civilization for it symbolizes victory and peace.

Informed millennials are showing more concern for better health and the environment. This has considerably changed the way we eat, and altered food choices.

The global consumption volume of olive oil 2019-20 amounted to 2.97 million metric tons. Further reports reveal that the European Union expects olive oil consumption to increase by about 1.1% and anticipates exports to increase by 3.3% over the next decade.

While the demand side projects a growing trend, let’s look at the supply side of it to get a better understanding.

There exist two perspectives to this understanding.

  1.  A study reports that olive trees safeguard biodiversity, improves soil, and acts as a barrier to desertification. Therefore olive growth has positive effects on the environment.
  2. Scientists are reporting on the need for improved agricultural practices, in order to derive the carbon sink effect from growing olive trees. And olive trees have a role in mitigating climate change effects, quoted the head of R&D in the Climate change Conference.

This concern arises because a 2017 study reported that olive oil mills generate almost 8 billion gallons of wastewater and solid residue annually. When olives are processed for making oil, they get crushed and mixed with water in mills, once the oil is separated out of the mixture, the dirty water along with the solid residue gets discarded. Ence the disposal of the waste has always triggered environmental problems like dumping them into rivers or water bodies poses contamination issues.

The study also reported on the need for the development of an environmentally friendly process that could transform this pollutant into green biofuel, and safe water for agricultural usage.

In 1959, the World’s only International Olive Council was set up with a commitment to contribute to the integrated and sustainable development of olive growing. With an objective to function as a platform to tackle the challenges faced by its member countries, the leading producers of olives as well as support commoners who earn their livelihood from the produce of olive trees.

One comment on “CBD Oil & Olive Oil: A Match Made In Heaven”

  1. I have always found Marijuana to be extremely helpful with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and panic attacks as well. These are the most prevalent and common mental disorders with a lot of complications as well. For example, pharmaceutical drugs need to be changed if they are no more treating the depression symptoms, not to forget the side-effects that come along. I am someone who has always thought of medicines as a last resort and usually try to find cure in alternative medicines. I find them less damaging to our bodies and believe they are great options. I would suggest everyone suffering from depression to llimit medicines and make significant changes to lifestyle plus resort to these alternative treatments at least once and see how it goes.CBD with olive is definitely a match made in heaven and it is one of the best carrier oils for CBD.
